Strightforward activation with a short walk from parking place
I drove away from Arenas to find the road that got closest to the summit, as shown below:
I parked a little way down from the summit and took a 10 minute stroll along the tarred road to the top.
At the summit there where several masts and buildings that provided shelter from the wind, plus wire fencing that provided somewhere to attach my antenna with bungees. On my first activation in 2024 I sat between the concrete buildings on the right with antenna over the trig point (using my sotapole to increase the dipole centre over the trig). Repeating this at my 2nd activation in 2025, I found my (KX2) radio was overloaded with strong signals in this position. I found that moving my inverted V down the hill slightly and operating in front of the gate removed the overloading.
in 2004 I made 12 QSOs on 20m and 1 on 40m, then 11 QSOs in 2025 on 20m
