A straightforward summit worth 6 SOTA points
This was my first of 10 SOTA activations on the island of Sardinia in May 2025.
I drove to Ulassa, parked up as far as the road would go and started walking up the well marked and signposted trail.
The ascent was straightforward and I was soon set up and calling CQ on 20 metres. The summit has a few different activation site options, all at roughly the same height, but with plenty of trees and shrubs it limits the open space for a large HF antenna.
I held my Sotapole in place with bungees around a rock, only partly extended, and fortunately the wind was light so everything stayed in place.
I managed 19 QSOs on 20m, then just 1 on 15m.
